Our Church

Atonement Covenant Church is a place to serve and be served. We are a family of believers committed to doing God's work and spreading the good news of God's plan for salvation.  We strive to demonstrate the love and compassion of Christ to all we encounter.

Atonement Covenant Church provides opportunity for persons to use their God given gifts, talents, and abilities.  Together, as a family, joined in a coordinated effort, we provide a multitude of services to the Body of Christ that go far beyond Sunday service.

The Mission of Atonement Covenant Church is to win persons for Christ, to be a gathering of people who worship Jesus Christ, and serve as God leads. Encourage and support one another in faith, and seek hope in a confusing world. Our desire is to create an environment, in which people feel the love, acceptance, and forgiveness that Jesus Christ offers.

The Problem

According to the Chicago Police Crime Statistics Report, there were 25 homicides in the Englewood community since September of 2008, the start of the school semester, 20 of which occurred in the zip code area of Atonement Covenant Church. By October 21, 2008 Chicago had surpassed New York and Los Angeles in the number of murders committed and those numbers are rapidly increasing daily. According to NCES (National Center for Education Statistics) statistics the drop out rate for the community of Englewood is one out of every 2 students by the age of 16.
